Switching from another chat tool
How to run Panelbot alongside Crisp, Tawk, Intercom, or your existing helpdesk, how to evaluate it on real tickets, and how to phase a rollout.
Most hosts trying Panelbot already have something. A chat widget nobody staffs at night, a helpdesk with a backlog, or both.
Run both for a while
Nothing stops you having two widgets during an evaluation. They are separate scripts and they do not fight. Put Panelbot in your client area, where customers are logged in and it can actually see their services, and leave your existing chat on your marketing site where visitors are anonymous.
That split tends to survive the evaluation, because it plays to what each is good at. Anonymous pre-sales chat and authenticated support chat are different jobs.
Evaluate it on the tickets you already have
The fastest honest test: take the thirty most repetitive tickets from last month, the ones your team could answer in their sleep, and see how Panelbot handles that exact traffic. Password resets, “my email stopped working”, “why is my site slow”, “I need SSL”.
Thirty is the trial allowance, and that is not a coincidence. It is enough to judge quality on your real customers and your real servers.
What you are looking for is not whether it sounds clever. It is whether the answers match what your team would have said, and whether it stops when it should.
Roll it out in stages
You do not have to switch everything on at once, and the people who go slowly tend to end up more confident.
Start read-only, so the assistant diagnoses and explains but changes nothing. Watch what it says for a week. Then enable the low-impact fixes, the ones you would let a junior technician do unsupervised. Then, when the transcripts have earned it, the rest.
The Workflows page has a switch for each capability, so this is a genuine dial rather than an all-or-nothing decision.
Bringing your existing content across
There is no importer. Copy the answers you already have into your knowledge base, starting with the canned responses your team pastes most. Most hosts find this is a shorter list than they expected, maybe fifteen articles, and it is worth rewriting rather than pasting because half of them are out of date anyway.
Existing tickets
Panelbot does not take over your open tickets or your ticket history. It starts with new conversations. Your helpdesk keeps doing what it does, and escalations file into it with the context attached.
When it does not work out
If you decide against it, removing everything takes minutes: uninstall the agents, take the hook or plugin back out of your portal, close the account. Your previous setup is untouched, because it was never replaced.
